The Road to Bicycle Island: A Social Gathering with Filmmaker Mitra Ghaffari

Join Free Cycles in an evening with guest Filmmaker Mitra Ghaffari on Monday, February 19th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Mitra will be in town for the Northwest Premiere of her film Bicycle Island (A donde nos lleva) at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.

First, short screenings will offer a look into bicycle culture in Havana and Mitra's journey to making the film, followed by Q&A. Afterwards, we'll close the evening in community conversation accompanied by live music. This is a free event, popcorn and tea will be provided.

Biography:

Mitra Elena Ghaffari is a beginning filmmaker, community arts facilitator, and bike guide based out of Havana, Cuba. She received an MFA in Social Documentation at UC Santa Cruz in June 2023. Her career trajectory grounds documentary production in community engagement and empowerment, innovative collaboration methods, and social reform advocacy.
