As we head into the 2010 construction season for streets and trails, there are some great opportunities for more sustainable transportation in Missoula.
Brooks st. is likely to gain bike lanes, yet your comments are needed. Spruce St. will be revisited- peruse our pictures, videos and reports. Will Reserve St. lose bike lanes and a pedestrian island for another travel lane? How about paving the river front trail with asphalt- we are not finding much support for that, yet we may partner with the City to lay down a stretch of permeable pavers.
Our 13th Festival of Cycles was a huge success, with over 125 bicycles tuned up and given a way. The Free Cycles shop is as busy as ever, with about 60 people coming in each day.
The second 'road diet' for Missoula is being built right not- on Higgins from Broadway to Railroad St.- and will include cycle tracks. The Rattlesnake gateway, with new bike lanes and sidewalks will be built this summer, as will a great trail connection from the river to the California foot bridge.
We are looking for storage for 1,000 overflow bicycles- let us know if you can help! Sincerely, -Bob Giordano 406-880-6834
